"You have enough magic there to conjure one spell. Better make it a good one."
—Xandra, to Leo[src]

Xandra is an evil witch in the non-canonical novel, Leo Rising. She used to be Leo Wyatt's charge before she walked down the dark path.

Early Life

She was one of Leo Wyatt's first charges when he was a new Whitelighter. The woman rebelled against her destiny, and chose to use her magic for dark deeds. Consequently, the Elders gave Xandra an ultimatum: give up dark magic or they give up on her. She did not even think before making her choice. By becoming an evil witch, she lost her right to a Whitelighter.

Black Magic Dealings

She then started living in a shrouded area known as the Black Magic Market located in San Francisco, and used magic to maintain her youth. After years of no contact, a now-mortal Leo calls her out of desperation. Xandra demands a trade: a unicorn horn for Morder's Book of Magic from Magic School, which he complies but secretly tears out some of the more formidable spells from the book before departing to find her.

While meeting Xandra in her lair, they discuss some of their past, then Xandra asks to look at the Halliwells' Book of Shadows. Leo flat-out refuses and departs with the unicorn horn to cast a spell that was strong enough to bring his sons from the future.

Xandra eventually finds the pages containing dangerous spells missing and rushes to the Halliwell Manor to confront Leo about them. Unfortunately, the only ones in the house were Nisha Maksoud and Darryl Morris. She repeatedly attacks the Manor while the two hold her off with magic. When she finally breaks in, Nisha concocts a potion and then throws it at her, freezing her in time.

The sisters, Leo, and the boys later return home, and Paige and Phoebe find her still frozen in their attic.
