Wrestlers were demons that worked for Kellman. They are lesser demons, who have to fight the students of the academy who need a refresher course. Similar to other demons at The Academy, they were presumably once mortal.
The wrestlers assisted in the training of new demons, and were used to fight the students when one of them failed an assignment. As the Source of All Evil controlled what happened in the ring, a hole would open once the fight was over, vanquishing the loser for his failure.
When the Charmed Ones set out to rescue Tom Peters from his contract, Prue and Phoebe were forced to fight two of the wrestlers. However, they eventually managed to defeat them and the wrestlers were vanquished.
