Piper: What key?
Billie: To the ultimate power?
Phoebe: Whoa. Excuse me?
Piper: Oh, no. Not another one.

The term Ultimate Power describes a force so powerful that nearly no one can match it. Throughout the series, there have been several forms of ultimate powers, be they good, evil, or neutral.

For someone to be born with such immense power, one of the requirements is usually orchestrated by destiny, but it can also be given.

Examples[]

Gods[]

When the Titans came to power in Ancient Greece, the Elders were powerless against them and resorted to imbuing a group of mortals with divine powers, turning them into the infamous Greek gods. Powerful as they were, they weren't strong enough to destroy the Titans and resorted to entombing them. However, they refused to give up their powers and declared themselves gods, and forced the world to worship them. With no means to take back the powers by force, the Elders left them to their own.[1]

Witches and Demons[]

The Charmed Ones are considered a powerful force of good through the Power of Three, whereas the Source was known to be the most powerful force of evil.

The Hollow[]

The Hollow is known for being able to absorb all kinds of magic without discriminating between good or evil and being able to grant said powers to those who are possessed by it.[2]

The Twice-Blessed Child[]

The Prophecy of the Twice-Blessed Child foretold the birth of a firstborn child between a Whitelighter and a Charmed One, who would become so powerful that he could tip the scales of balance between good and evil.[3] The Elders changed the prophecy by giving the same power to their other children as well[4] until the Angels of Destiny realized the error of their ways and abolished the prophecy altogether, though the children retained their powers.[5] The legendary sword, Excalibur, is known to only be able to be wielded by its destined master, which would grant them infinite power and invincibility.[6]

The All[]

Prue Halliwell and Rennek took control of the true ultimate power on Earth, respectively, when they possessed the All: the center point of all magic. With it, they had access to all magic and were able to bend reality to their choosing.[7][8]

Notes and Trivia[]

  • Despite being called the Ultimate Power, Christy and Billie weren't strong enough to call upon the Hollow, whereas the Charmed Ones were.
  • Due to not being its true wielder, Mordaunt failed to fully master Excalibur, and Wyatt, the wielder of the sword, killed him with it.
