While Prue tries to find time with Andy, Phoebe and Piper vie for the attention of Leo, a handsome handyman. A troubled teenager, Aviva befriends Phoebe with the hopes of joining the Halliwell coven of witches. Aviva has been lured to the dark powers and black magic aspect of witchcraft by Kali, a priestess who appears to her through a mirror. It turns out Kali has given Aviva a mission to gain the sisters’ trust and steal their powers. Although Phoebe is originally trusting and is almost seduced by the dark powers of Kali, Prue and Piper bring her back to her senses and end Kali’s power over Aviva.
[edit] Plot
Aviva sits in a darkened room surrounded by lighted candle. She chants and Kali appears in a mirror. Aviva has studying the Charmed Ones at Kali's instruction. Aviva reaches for the mirror and Kali grants her the power to start fires. Kit, the Halliwells cat, has gone missing and Leo puts out flyers. Aviva sees one of the flyers and sets it on fire.
Piper and Phoebe both check out Leo and a rivalry breaks out between them.
Prue and Andy look through a video store for a movie. They want the manor to themselves that evening.
Aviva summons Kali again. Kit appears outside her door and Aviva takes her to the manor. Andy and Prue walk in and the sisters try to urge Aviva out. Aviva gestures and a tray of popcorn starts popping. Piper freezes the room, but Aviva doesn't freeze. Aviva claims to be a witch. The sisters urge her out the door. Prue and Andy's plans for the evening have fallen through.
Kali suggests to Aviva that she befriend Phoebe. Aviva calls Phoebe and they meet at Aviva's school. Aviva skips school and tells Phoebe about herself. Leo meets Piper at Quake. Piper pays for the meal. She suggests that Phoebe is "with her gay and lesbian group right now." Phoebe is in fact at the manor with Aviva. Phoebe asks how Aviva knows that the Halliwells are witches. Aviva summons Kali, who gives Phoebe the heat power; Phoebe uses it to make a plant grow. Prue enters the room and is angry that they have been experimenting with magic. Phoebe runs downstairs to try and calm Prue when Andy arrives but Prue is still angry and yet another night for Prue and Andy is ruined.
Aunt Jackie is angry that Aviva skipped school. They argue, and Aviva gestures, causing several candles to flare up. Aunt Jackie panics and falls down the stairs. Kali tells Aviva to replace Prue. Aviva goes back to the manor and asks to stay the night.
Prue visits Aunt Jackie in the hospital. Aunt Jackie tells of the strange chants and rituals that Aviva indulges in. Prue goes to Aviva's room, standing up Andy yet again, and finds Aviva's diary. She finds out about Kali and calls Phoebe and Piper.
Phoebe has a premonition of Aviva throwing a fireball at Prue; she walks into the room and Aviva throws a fireball. Phoebe catches the fireball with a sweater. Aviva runs out upset that she almost hurt Phoebe. The sisters check the Book of Shadows.
Aviva doesn't want to use her powers anymore. Kali offers to leave if Aviva touches the mirror; instead, she possesses Aviva. Aviva enters the attic and throws fireballs. Piper freezes Kali, freeing Aviva. Prue flings Kali into a mirror, and then Phoebe smashes the mirror, destroying Kali with it.
Andy is angry with Prue, and refuses to talk to her.
