Spirit Board
From Charmed
The Spirit Board serves a number of great purposes in Charmed. Although only used a couple of times, it has helped the sisters in many ways:
- Receiving their powers (Something Wicca This Way Comes)
- The Charmed Ones originally received their powers because of the Spirit Board. The board spelled out Attic, which Phoebe Halliwell later went to and found the Book of Shadows. She then cast the spell for the Charmed Ones to receive their powers.
- Finding a kidnapped boy ("Secrets and Guys")
- Prue found a boy named Max who was kidnapped through the spirit board.
- Finding the name of a demon ("Witch Trial")
- In Witch Trial, Grams revealed Abraxas' name by using the spirit board.
- Contacting those on other planes ("Apocalypse, Not")
- When Prue was trapped in an unknown plane, she contacted her sisters by using the spirit board.
- Calling Help ("Repo Manor")
- When trapped inside the dollhouse, the Charmed Ones used the spirit board to contact Billie to come save them.
[edit] Notes
- The sisters keep calling the planchette the "pointer". Many fans said this was a writers mistake and that more research should have been done by the writer (in this case Constance M. Burge) but giving it a wrong name may have been the intention; since the sisters didn't believe in magic and didn't know of its existence, they probably had no idea what the name for the "pointer" was.
- An official replica of the Spirit Board was made by Sota Toys in 2004. Many people claim that Sota Toys said that they would only make a replica of the Book of Shadows if the replica of the spirit board would sell good, which it didn't. The replica's were sold in big, black boxes with the Charmed logo on the front and "The Power of Three" on the inside.
