Shapeshifting

Shapeshifting in its broadest sense is a change in the physical form or shape of a body. A lot of beings in the show possess this ability, mostly Demons however some witches have had this ability.

Another power called Transmogrification is an extremely similar ability that allows the being in question to change shape or form. However it is unknown to what extent this power overlaps with the former or indeed even if the two are synonymous. To answer this one must analyse the various uses of each displayed in the show.

Although demons and other beings alike have been described with the power to shapeshift only once has the term transmogrification been used through out the series run of the show. In "Blinded by the Whitelighter" Prue reads from the book of shadows that in 1989 a warlock named Eames stole the power of transmogrification from a Kenyan witch. When he exhibited the power himself he was show to transform into an object (in this case a darklighter's crossbow) and back again.

Chameleon demons have the power to shapeshift but they too can also turn into objects like Eames, however, other shapeshifting demons have shown to be able to turn into animals as well. Hence this must mean that either:

1. The two terms are synonymous 2. That transmogrification is a more exclsuive version of shapeshifting, only being able to transmogrify into objects

However the power was never seen again after its debut and so one will never know for sure.
