Orin was a Gypsy Hunter who went after Shuvanis they Cursed him with blindness long ago so he could no longer spot their people. Only Gypsy magic (supposedly) could lift the curse. Gypsy Hunters are equivalents to warlocks in their goals. The goals of Gypsy Hunters are to kill Gypsies and obtian their powers. As a warlock's goal is to kill good witches and obtain their powers. When Orin took Lydia's eyes he obtained the power of Optical Thermodynamics. He was Vanquished by the same spell that the Charmed ones used to Vanquish The Source but they tweeked it so that it would call upon the power of the Nicoli Gypsies. Orin could emit red Demon beams from his hands and had remote viewing.
