From Charmed

Nicholas was a low level warlock who tricked Patty, the Charmed Ones' mother, into his appartment when she was pregnant with Phoebe. He made her believe that Victor, the Charmed Ones' father called her to meet with him. He was able to convince her to give him immunity from the Charmed One's powers in exchange for Patty's and her daughters' lives. Soon after, their Grams bound her daughters' powers as a temporary way of stalling time before he could steal their powers. Discovering this, Nicholas magically aged himself and posed as a would-be suitor for Grams. Each year he would appear on the same day with a vase of flowers for her at exactly twelve noon. In the middle of the clock's gong, he would drop the flowers to see if one of the Charmed Ones would freeze it before the vase broke. When this finally happened, he realized that the Charmed Ones had their powers and tried to take them. He was eventually killed via the spell their Grams made up to help them kill him after they went back in time.

He was resurrected by Abraxas, a demon of the astral plane when Abraxas stole the Book of Shadows and started reversing all the spells in it, but he was re-vanquished by Prue however a potion was not needed. ("Witch Trial")

Nicholas had the ability to heat up body organs thus killing witches by frying them from the inside. When Patty, the sisters mother, blessed the ring, he was immune to their powers.
