Marina Nicolae was a Gypsy of the Nicolae tribe, the mother of Ava and sister of Lydia Nicolae.

History

At some point in time, after she had her daughter Ava, Marina contracted cancer. Instead of relying on modern medicine, she trusted in gypsy magic, though it was already too late. However, Ava believed that she could have survived if she had gotten chemotherapy. She rejected her heritage and became a surgeon instead.

Ava finally embraced her heritage after her aunt Lydia was killed by the Gypsy Hunter Cree and used a spell to call upon her ancestors, including her mother and aunt, to vanquish his father Orin. After Orin was vanquished, Ava was left in tears because she sensed Marina's presence in the room with her.
