Magnus was a demon second-in-command to Novak and presumably led his other minions when Novak slumbered to conserve his powers.
History
Magnus was loyal to Novak, a demon who had sought to obtain Buddha's Mystical Staff for decades. In 2006, Magnus had the minions follow Lo Pan so he would lead them to the Sacred Garden. When the ceremony was about to take place, Magnus awakened Novak in Magic School and they attacked, finally managing to kill one of the Chinese Zodiacs. However, they were interrupted by Piper Halliwell and Billie Jenkins, who took the staff instead.
Novak eventually took Piper captive and used the staff to turn all three Charmed Ones evil. He sent them after Lo Pan, a decision Magnus questioned. His doubts proved to be correct when Billie turned the sisters back to normal through her Projection power. She and the sisters then confronted the demons at the school and vanquished them all through the staff.
