James Agatt is Lyssa Ainsley's fiancé, later husband, and the Lighthouse Keeper's host for a majority of the book, Light of the World.
History[]
Early Life[]
- "He grew up on his own—just took off before Child Services could figure out what to do with him. Lied about his age when he was fourteen and got hired on a merchant ship sailing for the Indies and never looked back."
- —Lyssa, on James's background.[src]
James Agatt was orphaned at a young age. He escaped before child services could take him, and he had lived on his own for many years, eventually getting a scholarship at Oxford and becoming a professor, with published papers on antiquities and lost cultures. He met and fell in love with Lyssa Ainsley.
Serenity Cove[]
He visited Serenity Cove and fell in love with the village instantly, and eventually (with subtle influence from the Lighthouse Keeper) decided to marry Lyssa in the little town. James studied the Serenity Cove Lighthouse on a daily basis. On the same day the Charmed Ones arrived, James picked up a pocket watch, only for it to cling to his hand then torture him from the inside. Desperate to free himself from the pain, he inadvertently agreed to "stop the pain", resulting in his soul being extracted and sealed inside the lighthouse walls while the Lighthouse Keeper took over his body.
On the day of the wedding, James helped the Charmed Ones make the keeper realize his mistake by showing him a hologram of the day he lost his true love. Once everything settled, James's soul was restored to his body and the couple married officially.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Powers attained while trapped in the lighthouse
- Voice Echo: The ability to project one's voice. While James's soul was trapped in the lighthouse, he used this ability to communicate with the keeper.
- Hologram: The ability to project intangible images. James used it through the lighthouse searchlight to show the keeper the truth.
Appearances[]
James Agatt appeared in a total of 1 non-canonical novel throughout the franchise.
