Hippolyta was a mortal who was given a magical belt by the Goddess of Earth Gaea. She used it to create harmony between the sexes, but her plan backfired and she fled to an isolated island full of women, killing any man who dared enter. Eventually, Hippolyta was butchered by Hercules. Anyone who has worn the belt since has tried to kill all men before its power killed them.[1]
