Sex and the City is an American television and film series that originally aired on HBO network from 1998 until 2004. The show centered around four New York City friends - Carrie Bradshaw, an ambitious columnist, Samantha Jones, a sexually charged business woman, Charlotte York, a sophisticated art gallery owner and Miranda Hobbes, a cynical lawyer. The series discussed their lives in New York, their sexual escapades and their pursuit of finding love with the right man.

In 2008 and 2010, two Sex and the City films were released, Sex and the City and Sex and the City II.

Phoebe Halliwell[]

Phoebe Halliwell, a Charmed One, is a huge fan of the series and her career as a columnist who's in pursuit of the perfect man throughout the series parallels that of Carrie Bradshaw, the main character of Sex and the City.

Malice in Wonderland[]

The season 8 episode "Malice in Wonderland" had Phoebe narrating just as Carrie Bradshaw narrated each episode of Sex and the City. The episode also contained a plethora of references and allusions to the series.

References[]

  • Jason Lewis who portrays Phoebe's love interest, Dex Lawson appeared several times in Sex and the City as Smith, one of Samantha's boyfriends.
  • The closing sequence shows Phoebe writing and reading her column, describing the impact of "signs" on Paige, Piper, and her life, which in her case, brought her "back to where you started from", in the exact same way Carrie Bradshaw ends the finale episode of Sex and the City, where she describe the impact of relationships on her friends and on her, and where she ends up also "where she started".
  • The comic "Morality Bites Back" reads similar to a Sex and the City episode with Phoebe narrating through the entirety.

Trivia[]

  • The series is also referenced in Season 6 in the episode "My Three Witches" when Piper's friend, Mary says "Our lives used to be very Sex and the City, then we got married, had kids and its Celibacy in the Suburb."
