Martha van Lewen was a married woman who became the object of obsession for the family chauffeur, Elias Lundy. She was the mother of Gilbert and his brother, as well as the grandmother of Matthew van Lewen.
History[]
When Elias became increasingly obsessed with Martha, she began to fear for her family's safety. In order to protect them, she lured Elias out to an old tree and shot him in the back, killing him. She buried him and later claimed her husband did it to protect her instead.
Elias returned as a vengeful spirit and began terrorizing Martha, killing the male members of the family and preventing her from leaving. Martha's youngest son, Gilbert, initially did not believe his mother until his brother was killed. To protect his son, he left him at the police station, was but later killed himself.
When the Charmed Ones became involved, they attempted to vanquish Elias but failed. Eventually Martha found out that her own death will end it all and killed herself to protect her family, allowing her to banish Elias and move on herself.
