Sensing

Sensing is the ability for a Whitelighter to find and locate their charges anywhere around the world. A Whitelighter's sensing ability will not work when their charges are in the Underworld. In general, Whitelighters and Elders are the only ones having this ability. But demons can sense other demons when they shimmer, but it's harder if they're in a mausoleum, or sense a witch who is using her powers.

They could also put their charges' calls on mute if they want to, as Chris did when he heard Phoebe call him for the first few days and put her on mute for the rest of the week. ("I Dream of Phoebe")
