Empath

A race of magical beings that are born with the power of Empathy. Due to their rare powers of feeling the emotions of others and healing emotional pain, they usually become counselors, elders, teachers, psychiatrists, and so on. When they die, they will reincarnate to Earth as newborn Empaths. Their empathy allows them to also channel and control the powers of others, given that powers are tied very closely with emotions.
Normally, Empaths are beings of light. It has been confirmed that demons cannot handle the full power of human emotions, though they are capable of dark feelings such as hatred, anger, pride and probably carnal lust. It is the same with warlocks. Phoebe is the only known Halliwell witch to become an Empath, most probably due to an extreme advancement of her power of premonitions. The gift of Empathy is only for chosen few as most people cannot handle full loaded human emotions. In Season three, Primrose Empath, Prue was almost destroyed when she became an Empath, as she was not meant for the gift. Indeed, even after she learned to embrace the gift, it left her after she used it to vanquish Vinceres, as she was not destined to have it. Phoebe, however, eventually learned to embrace her power of empathy, as she was meant to be one.
