Donovan was William Lancaster's assistant. He turned to the dark arts when William's wife, Isabella befriended a magic expert named Miranda Nance, who later used her knowledge to trap William's spirit inside a painting.
Donovan married a woman named Claire Emerson, who died giving birth to their baby. He then took his wife's last name and disappeared with the child.
He dedicated his entire life to looking for ways to free William. When he grew too old to continue, his son took over, and later his grandson.[1]
