Sykes was very similar to Belthazor. He was a powerful Upper Level demon with a human form also, with his demon-self looking almost exactly like Belthazor. He looked up to Belthazor as a mentor while growing up. Similar to that of a stalker, Sykes took on Cole's old cover-up as the Assistant District Attorney in order to get close to and kill good witches. He kidnaps Phoebe, holding her hostage at the manor, after she and her sisters catch onto him trying to frame, murder and replace Cole in the demonic heiarchy. He is murdered by Belthazor, who in turn, is murdered with a vanquishing potion by the witch that Sykes was originally after; she was also the fiancée of a male witch Cole killed while he still worked for The Source.

Like Belthazor, Sykes also had a shadow, that reported his findings to the Source (Cole's shadow to the Triad). As the ADA, he also was an employee of Cole's old boss and met the Charmed Ones as witnesses to a murder that he was investigating.

Hoping to emulate the legendary demon Belthazor, Sykes copied him by posing as an assistant district attorney and killing Witches. If not for the intervention of The Charmed Ones he would have slain all of the Witches in the triple crescent coven, rather than just one of their member. Once Sykes targeted a coven he did not rest until all of its members had been murdered. Thanks to a self-sacrificing gesture on the part of Cole Turner, Sykes’ rampage was stopped; an enraged Belthazor killing him with his own athame. Sykes’ preferred method for killing Witches was an athame but like Belthazor he was able to cast energy balls, was extremely strong and capable of shimmering. Sykes also possessed a human form, but unlike Belthazor he was pure demon and not a human/demon hybrid. When in demon form he was large and muscular, with black skin and eyes and red facial markings. Smart and tough, Sykes was extremely hard to dispatch; even capable of surviving a full powered energy ball. Yet, like all high level demons, a potion utilising a piece of his own flesh could vanquish him.

[edit] Trivia

• During the big fighting scene between Belthazor and Sykes, Aaron Brumfield (demon Skykes) had to "choke" Belthazor. Michael Baily Smith (Belthazor) said in a commentary that Aaron really began choking him (accidently) and almost had to yell cut.
