Cyrano de Bergerac (6 March 1619 – 28 July 1655) was a French dramatist and duelist. His life was the inspiration for a play written by the French poet Edmond Rostand, also named Cyrano de Bergerac. He has been referred to several times in Charmed.

MentionsEdit

In the PlayEdit

Cyrano was a character created by Edmond Rostand in a play he wrote called Cyrano de Bergerac. Cyrano was a noble, swashbuckling who, despite his many gifts, felt that no woman could ever love him because he had an enormous nose. Secretly in love with the lovely Roxanne, Cyrano agreed to help his inarticulate rival, Christian, win her heart by allowing him to present Cyrano's love poems, speeches, and letters as his own work. Eventually Christian recognized that Roxanne loved him for Cyrano's qualities, not his own, and he asked Cyrano to confess his identity to Roxanne; Christian then went off to a battle that proved fatal. Cyrano remained silent about his own part in Roxanne's courtship. As he was dying years later, he visited Roxanne and recited one of the love letters. Roxanne realized that it was Cyrano she loved, and he died contently.
