The Bestiari Demon was a main antagonist in the Charmed novel As Puck Would Have It. Being a demon who sustained himself by feeding off the life forces of animals, the Bestiari joined the Fletcher Family Circus and worked there as a clown named "Tommy Brace". Since the circus traveled from place to place, he could use it as a way to travel from city to city and feed off the animals that inhabit the local zoos.
History[]
The Bestiari Demon was an upper-level demon in human form that drained life energy from animals. He collected this energy and used it to make himself stronger, as it granted him the animal's attributes, such as enhanced strength, speed and agility.
He needed to absorb the energy directly into his body, but to fully drain an animal's life, he needed to do it three times. The animals were weakened each time, but the process wasn't fatal until the transfer was completed.
As he collected more energy, he increasingly needed stronger animals to keep fulfilling his needs.
The demon started working at the Fletcher Family Circus as a clown to travel from town to town and feed off various animals at the local zoos. Because the circus had moved on by the time the news broke, no one made the connection. Once, the circus was trapped in a blizzard and the demon had no choice but to feed off a tiger in the circus to survive. Years later, Dr. Jordan Kahn realized this and contacted the trickster Puck for help.
Puck cast a protection spell around established areas where powerful animals are kept to cut off the demon's food source. But that made him resort to feeding off the animals at the circus to sustain himself. He killed a tiger named Zeus and a horse named Sabra. When the circus arrived in San Francisco, the Charmed Ones were sought out by Puck, who investigated the matter and finally found out it was the work of the Bestiari demon.
He tried to kill the elephant Tasha, but was discovered and escaped the Charmed Ones' pursuit, then impersonated a security guard to lure them into a trap.
The Bestiari was ultimately vanquished by Phoebe, Piper and Puck, who was impersonating Paige Matthews.
